Greetings DICC User,

We are currently experiencing network service disruption due to the transition of our ISP operator (MYREN).

Internally, most network connections within the DICC network to non-Google platforms will be heavily affected as the traffic will be routed through other universities. Most users (mainly HPC users) will experience slowness when accessing non-Google platforms due to reduced network bandwidth as all traffic is now routed via other universities.

Externally, most access to DICC hosted services from outside UM are expected to be slow during the network service disruption. Luckily, connections from the UM network to DICC services are currently unaffected.

All DICC hosted services include, but not limited to the following services will be affected by the network disruption:

  1. HPC Service
    • All downloads from non-Google resources will be slow.
    • Most jobs will continue to run if files are already present in the storage.
  2. Research Data Repository
    • Access from outside UM can be slow.
  3. UM Drive Storage
    • Access from outside UM can be slow.
  4. DMP Platform
    • Access from outside UM can be slow.

We are currently unable to provide any estimation on how long this disruption will last. Users are advised to plan their work accordingly. Unfortunately, there is not much DICC can do to mitigate the impact of the network service disruption for the moment.

We will update again once the network disruption has been resolved.

Thank you.
